What Level Blogger are You!

Before I started blogging I ran my family’s highly successful restaurant operation. Therefore I was well known in town and I knew hundreds in the blogging community.

I know people who started their blogs several years ago. I also know people who have recently started their blog.

Have you heard? about me ?

The truth as you are reading this some people are either starting their first blog or starting another blog. Everybody wanted to be a rapper in the 90’s,and now everybody wants to be a blogger.

While thousands of blogs may open their doors everyday ,survival can be harsh and many fall with disrepair very quickly.

For 4 years I did affiliate marketing basically promoting Clickbank ,JVZoo and Max Bounty. Got my  marketing degree.  While  being the general manager of 3 family restaurants.

On the side, I was blogging and  learning my craft of blogging. So you can say I was a novice blogger or hobbyist. I didn’t start blogging full-time until Jan 2016,this year .

Guys building a business out of blogging like any business, involves investment both in time and money. Like any business it will take handwork,dedication,being savvy and a bit of luck.

There are different levels of bloggers in the world.,but I’ll limit the numbers to five based on the focus of this blog

As a blogger in the U.S, you deserve to make lots of money if you are doing what’s right with your blog. If you put  alot of hours into your blog every week and you don’t actually earn anything from it. I think you have a choice.

Your blog itself won’t make you money. It is what you do with your blog that makes you money. You have a choice to either do the right thing or keep doing what you are doing.

Approaching blogging as an entrepreneur looking to build a business is very different from the view taken by a hobby blogger.

From the very beginning you will be planning and thinking about the blog as a product,what it will cost,what it might return,how it will grow and where its heading. You might be alone, or you might have partners and investors.

You might begin with alot of capital, or you might bootstrap the operation with whatever resources you can find.

Most importantly,as someone looking to build a business,you will always have your eye on the big picture.

Opportunities in Blogging

Publishing is changing quickly as more and more readers migrate from paper–based products to electronic media,whether it’s a computer tablet or an e-reader.

Change creates opportunity and in the last few years it’s clear that professional blogging is one of them.

The last decade saw a generation of blogs grow from being side projects and hobbies into sites with enormous readerships and real revenues.

Very quickly blogging has become a legitimate publishing business.

While today the blogging industry has some very professional outfits operating there is still lots and lots of room for the newcomer or “newbie”.

I understand that blogging could be a hobby for most people reading right now. A hobby isn’t always as profitable until you make it professional.

To make money with your blog requires you determine, “What Level Blogger are you” and then constantly seek to improve yourself.

Below are the levels of bloggers online Decide what level you are guys and work hard to improve yourself daily that’s what I do,because I have a long way to go still.

Level 1:  Novice

As a novice what you do is not clearly defined. You blog for general purpose. You blog about anything that fascinates you.

You blog because you just want to have a presence online, and be in the know. This is what people refer to as “just blogging for fun”.

At this level depending on the strategies you engage you should be making around $35 a month.

Level 2: Hobbyist

As a hobbyist you finally found out that being a noviceis not really profitable. You are now focused on creating value for your audience.

You are getting more serious. What you do here is not just to publish articles on your blog but also to solve problems for your readers. If you do the right things,you should be making $50—$150.

Level 3:  Semi-professional

As you create more value,more opportunities begin to open up for you. Here you build a “tribe around your passion and niche”.

You have blogging mentors you follow,peers you network with and active followers you are leading.

You are now taking blogging more serious and using effective blogging tools and resources. You should be making about $450 a month.

Level 4:–Professional

You have  established yourself as a blogging leader. You know your market.

People place value on you and your blogs. You create your own products—books,e-books,videos,webinars,online courses etc.

You have moved from just publishing blog post/articles that fascinate you. You publish post strategically. Post that will be very useful to your readers and also bring you some returns on the time you put into writing the post.

At this level you should be making over $750 depending on the specific strategy you use based on your niche.

 

Level 5:  Business Builder

The focus here is to solidify all that you have built over the years into one huge business that auto-generates income for you which means you have built a system that makes your money passively on auto–pilot.

This is because you have built systems with your blog that makes you money while you are probably on vacation.

Here you have fully incorporated a business with your blog. This happens through repetitive leads,having optimized your customer value chain.

Some other things you can do include joint venture partnerships,collaborations creating audio/video courses,membership sites etc.

And the system can generate millions for you monthly depending on the idea you have and the strategies you deploy.

Please note,you don’t get to become a business builder if you have not gone through the other levels. Sometimes, most times actually this takes a number of years to get to

Personally I  have friends who have been blogging 8–10 years and are making a high six figure a year amount and some who have been blogging the same time frame and are barely staying afloat.

But if you apply all the things  you find and read on this blog; go back and read all the archives.

Every blogger wants to attract new clients. But why is it so difficult to attract new clients?

Every blogger whether an experienced blogger like Mitch at  Im just sharing who has well over 10 years experience and  owns 3 blogs.

Or a blogger like myself who has under a year running a blog. We both  need to attract new clients.

Well once someone is on your  website,what are you doing to get them to stay and and to inquire about your business?

Here are 7 simple tips to attract new clients –paying clients.

1.Freshen up your image. -Is your business logo outdated? Does your website need revamping? Is your online marketing strategy working? Could it be time to rename your business?

2.A very clear and very visible call to action. What’s the single most important action you want people to take action on with your website?Whatever it is make it easy for people to find.

And include your call to action on every single page and blog post on your website.

If you have more than one call to action,then prioritize them. Which is your primary?Mine, my  Social Media management service.

Make that most visible. Maybe  your secondary call to action is to have them use your blog comment service. That’s great.

Make that visible too. Just don’t have your primary and secondry call to action competing.

Instead place them on different areas of each of your pages. Clear,visible calls to action are vital to attract more new clients.

3.Know your blog visitor. Think about what they want and how you can appeal to them.

Always aim to be special or offer better value for money than your competitors.

People run when we start talking about statistics. But Google Analytics (free) does all the heavy lifting of collecting important data about the people who visit your website.

With a little understanding you can find out what content is most popular (write more).

What sites are sending you the most traffic (do more on those sites) and what pages are causing people to leave. (fix them)

4.Go back to basics. Get on  kingged and meet 5 bloggers you don’t know everyday for a week. Get on Facebook and Twitter (follow me there) and touch base with old friends and meet new ones.

Maybe it’s time to also promote offline. Distribute leaflets. A direct mail campaign or email campaign can be a very effective way to meet new prospects also guys.

Check out all the influencers in your niche and see what they are doing on their websites. Just be creative.

5.Give away valuable content. Hopefully you have a blog and consistently write useful articles that help your readers resolve their problems.

Give your readers a valuable ebook in exchange for their email address.

Give your subscribers some of your best content.

Knock their socks off. Over-deliver and you will have some immediate fans and attract new clients. Guys be patient. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

6.Stay in touch. –Most people who visit your website are not likely to return. That’s not your fault.

They have busy lives. They come to your site find what they want and move on. So find ways to stay in touch.Your email list is one way.

Just be sure to use it regularly by sending out consistent articles and updates. Social media is another place where you can stay in touch with people  who visit your website.

Make your social media links clear and easy to find guys or people won’t use them.

Find the people who you want to stay in touch with and use conversations on social media to attract new clients,don’t just share content.

7.Be seen on your website. —Usually one of the most read pages on your website will be your  About page. That’s because people want to connect with you in some way on your website.

Attract new clients by being visible on your site. Photograph—-yes. But also consider video and even audio.

As a influencer,,coach,professional service provider,blogger your clients will build a relationship with you.

Why not give them a chance to begin when they arrive at your website?

My Backlink Approach (strategy)

For the last 3 weeks , I have been getting  bombarded with the same question from a lot of my readers.

Most of you guys asked, me what is my backlink  strategy? and most of  you suggested I write more post about backlinking. So  today  let’s roll.

According to Brian Dean of  Backlinko  one of the top SEO  influencers 85% of a website’s search engine ranking  position (SERP) is quality incoming links (backlinks) from other sites.

Of course backlinks from high Domain Authority (DA) sites are desired more than  the low DA sites.

For my newbies…..What is a Backlink?

A backlink is when a web page links to another site using a hyperlink. They are usually colored blue,and when you click on them it opens up a new tab or window and redirects you to a new destination.

The more backlinks a web page has,the more popular it is in Google’s eyes. Think of backlinks as votes. The more votes you have,the better chance you have at ranking.

It is also important to note that Google ranks web pages and not websites. This means guys we want to focus on ranking individual post and or pages instead of website domain.

Make sure you have a list of keywords before you try to rank for search terms. Try the Jaaxy keyword tool if you need help.

How Do Backlinks Affect SEO

Not  all backlinks are created equal. Backlinks carry more power if they have PR (page rank) and relevance.

Page rank means that the website has high authority; relevance means the website is in the same niche as you..

example:

If your website was about finance,then a back link from the Wall Street Journal would carry a lot more power than a backlink from a random book website.

Why?

Well the Wall Street Journal has high authority and is well respected and in the finance niche. A random book website won’t have any authority,and it has no relevance to finance.

DoFollow vs  NoFollow Backlinks

There is an important distinction between DoFollow and Nofollow backlinks, and it plays a huge factor in terms of ranking in search engines. A  DoFollow link will count as a vote for your website,while a NoFollow link will not.

A doFollow link will look like this:

<a href=”URL”> LinkText</a>

 

A nofollow link will look like this:

<a href= “URL” rel= “nofollow”>Link Text</a>

The reason nofollow links were introduced was because SEOs were abusing the power of backlinks strictly to rank content in the search engines.

Thus, Google introduced nofollow links to prevent that from happening.

Black Hat vs White Hat vs Grey Hat  SEO

These are common terms in the SEO community,and I wanted to give a quick definition for each before we move onto my backlinking  approach.

  • Black Hat SEO refers to aggressive ranking tactics that do not abide by search engine rules.
  • White Hat SEO  refers to 100% natural and organic ranking. This strategy takes forever to rank content.
  • Grey Hat SEO is less aggressive than black hat more aggressive than white. As long as you do correctly then you won’t suffer any slaps on the wrist by Google.

My Backlinking Approach

We are going to focus on using web 2.0 properties to assist  in ranking our web pages. A  Web 2.0 property refers to a page from a website that allows user-generated content.

For example: You Tube,blogger,Wikipedia,Hubpages, and Squidoo  are all Web 2.0 properties.

This is how the process works:

Step 1: We write blog post that we to rank for on our website. The blog post is 1,000 words.

Step2: We rewrite the article 4x(300-400 words) and publish it on different web 2.0 properties using different anchor text,creating 4 backlinks from high quality sites.

Step3:We repeat this process for keywords we want to rank for and build up authority in the search engines over time.

1.You Don’t Have a Plan

When I started my first blog,I was all over the place. That is the most common blogging mistake I see newbies make. They have no clue what to blog about so they blog about everything but nothing particular.

Before you start your blog have a plan for it.
I’m sure you guys have heard the saying,”A man without a plan can’t make a stand.”

For example this blog is to educate and inform newbie internet marketers proven techniques to make money online. Guide them with correct detailed information so they also prosper and succeed.

Know what You want to accomplish with your blog.

2.You Don’t Show Your Own Personality

There’s an over-saturation of blogs on the internet. According to Smartblogger,com there are 255 million blogs,therefore you have to stand out from the crowd with your own personality.

I have noticed a lot of bloggers try to copy the style of influencers in their niche. But remember people are drawn to genuine and unique bloggers who don’t to fake the funk.

My best tip to you guys is to write like you would speak to your best friend. Don’t be like Mike. Be Yourself.

3.They Don’t Make Money Right Away so They Quit

Building a blog is like building a brick house. It takes along time to build but once it’s built it’s built to last.

Spend 9-12 months grinding hard and you will have a well oiled blog machine spitting out sales everyday.

The quitters will be knocking themselves for giving up early.
With blogging you have to sacrifice short-term pain for long-term gain.

If you are only focused on money people will feel your sense of desperation.
Guys focus on helping people first making money second Trust me it works.

4.Identify Your Audience

Your blog isn’t supposed to cater to everybody.You should focus on a specific audience create all your content with them in mind.

When you know your audience creating content is easy because you know them like family.

You know their struggles,wants and needs. So when you create content that speaks to their heart,it creates instant trust and credibility for you.

5.Poor User Experience

You do notice how my site has a clean list of navigation tabs and social icons to connect.

Overcrowded navigation bars,confusing layouts,childish graphics and slow loading speeds are all examples of poor user experience.

Keep your navigation bar simple,have an organized layout and use professional graphics. Don’t have blinking ads and flashing banners everywhere. Sometimes less is more.

6.You Have No Mystery

Blogs that have all their business opportunities or producets on the wall for everyone to see is a definite turnoff. Guys create mystery around your brand and what you do.

Start with value so people will be dying to opt in to your email newsletter to find out more. Then you can sell your products and services on the backend.

7.Ineffective Copywriting

Inject curiosity and excitement into your blog titles and headlines,so your readers will “want to click”. This is called copywriting. Most blogging newbies don’t know how to “sell the click”.

8.Don’t Promote Content

Writing a blog post and hitting publish is only 50% of it. The other 50% is marketing your post.
If you notice all my social media icons are used to share all my new blog post to my social media channels. Google Alerts is another option.

9.Don’t be Inconsistent
Most blogging beginners fall victim to the blogging “crash and burn”.
They get high on blogging for a few wekks or months then they disapear like beer on a hot summer day.

The best way to stay on track is to keep a posting schedule and stick to it.

Be realistic though,don’t set yourself up for failure. It’s better to blog less and stay consistent. This is also out of respect for your readers and the search engines.

Conclusion

Blogging can be a very profitable part of your business or a big waste of time. It all depends on your approach and execution. Preventing the mistakes in this post is a very good start.

5 Things to Promote on Your Website!

I have been an affiliate marketer since 2011,but only full-time since January 1,2016.

I have noticed one of the things that holds many people from progressing besides finding a niche is Not knowing what to promote on their website.

Don’t worry about what to sell,finding your niche should be your first goal. Once you establish your niche finding what to promote is easy.

Without identifying a niche,they can’t really pin point the right products to sell.

Find what your niche crowd needs (products that solve problems) and give it to them. Once you do find what they like or want,try to sell them for a fair price.

Say you came up with one awesome product to sell to your niche audience ,but there are two different affiliate programs selling the same product at different prices.

If one affiliate program sold the product for $ 125 and another for $ 3,000. Which would you pick?

My opinion is that you should pick the $125 one because it gives your customer the same quality or service that the $ 3,000 does,that would make them happier.

If you would make $12.50 for promoting the cheaper one and $300 for promoting the more expensive one,if you only care about the $300 commission then you can call yourself a scammer.

1.)General affiliate marketing. This is how most websites monetize themselves,you will definitely always find something to promote.

Whether it’s a physical product or a digtal product or it can be services. You can sign up with most of the big affiliate networks such as Wealthy Affiliate,Maxbounty or Amazon for free.

Find the product you want to sell or promote get the affiliate link and begin selling it on your website.

2.)Sell your own services/products.

Hear what my client said about my Social Media Management service.

If you have the knowledge to create and sell your own product or service that is comparable or better than what you see,you will be able to make money doing this.

You always want to go with a niche,because if you are credible it’s very easy to make your product.

Example If you’re a public speaker you can sell advice about that through your
website.

3.)Affiliate marketing,just on a more local level.

Instead of doing business with big networks like Amazon,you do it with a business close to your local area who will compensate you adequately.
I would recommend you be highly educated in social media marketing,this would increase your chances of finding employment with top tier companies online.

4.)Ads. This is sort of like local marketing,but instead you host businesses on your page and promote them.

5.Just collect leads and don’t sell anything yet! Anything you do decide to promote later,whether it’s services or products Collect an email list and do the other 4 things I told you about not through your website,but through the list you will accumulate.

In Conclusion:
