51 Things to do that Will Make Your Website Soar !

Good morning  everybody especially to my loyal readers (big cashers) it’s Darrell  back at you on a cold 33 degree Friday morning in Iowa.

For the last two weeks I have been getting lots of questions from new bloggers,intermediate bloggers and a lot of my friends who own businesses here in  Iowa.

All of them are looking for new ways to improve their websites.

This post is my attempt to combine all of the real world tips and some key strategies that that will definitely generate positive results if  applied correctly.

So Let’s Roll my first post in December is titled “51 Things to do that will Make Your Website Soar.”

 

1.Post Frequently

Posting frequently can boost your search engine traffic. Updating with useful content will definitely build your audience.

Writing with search engine optimization in mind helps getting noticed and indexed by Google.

Neil Patel of  quicksprout found that posting high quality post 6x per week (as opposed to 5) blog traffic  increased by 18.6%.  Find your number you post and stick with it.

2.Images

Even babies don’t like books with no pictures. Images don’t just make your blog look pretty, they also help people find you in search engine listings. Humans are very visual must I say anymore.

In internet marketing for years now e-books have been used as the main tool to get people to subscribe to your  email.

3.Focus on long-tail keywords.

The days of focusing on a single keyword for each page are long gone. Make sure your post include all the relevant terms and phrases related to your topic.

4.Focus your energy on strategies that are working

You don’t have to do what everyone else is doing. Study your analytics to see your main  traffic drivers,and focus on your energy on these areas.

5.Ask a well-known blogger to guest post on your site.

They will likely share the post with their audience,driving traffic to your site.

6.Submit Your Blog to Search Engines

It’s a must get on the radar for the two main search engines, Google and Yahoo by submitting your blog’s URL to them.

Most search engines provide a “submit” link (or something similar) to notify the search engine of your new blog,so those search engines will crawl it and include your pages in their results.

7. Feed Your Blog Content to Your Social Media Profiles

Use a tool like Twitterfeed to automatically publish links to your blog post on your  Twitter and Facebook profiles

. Also take the time to set up your blog post to automatically publish on your Linked In, Google + and other social media profiles

8.Add “Follow Me ” Social Media Icons to Your Blog

Add social media icons to your blog’s sidebar writing people to connect with you on Twitter, Facebook and your other social media profiles.

If your blog content is fed to those accounts then you’ve created another way for people to access your content not actually visiting your blog.

9. Work on Your Headlines

Your headlines are what will get people in the door especially when you share your blog post on social media.

Make sure you spark interest and clearly articulate the benefit to your readers.

10.Offer Value and Knowledge

The most important thing you can do to create a positive engagement is to listen carefully. Listen with the goal to understand.

11. Link to Your Blog from Your Social Media Profiles

Make sure your blog URL is included in all of your social media profiles.

For example include it in your Twitter bio, your Facebook profile, your Linked In profile and so on. Your goal is to always make sure your blog is just a click away.

12.Include the URL to Your Blog in Forum Post Signatures

If you actively publish posts in online forums make sure a link to your blog is included in your post signature.

13.Syndicate Your Blog Content

Syndicate your blog content through free and licensed syndication companies to increase exposure to your content. Like I did here at  kingged.

14.Write Guest Post

Find blogs in your niche and reach out to the owner of each blog to find out if the blog publishes guest post If so write a super guest blog post and be sure to include a link to your blog in your bio that accompanies the post.

15. Automate Cross-Profile Publishing

Use a tool like Tweetdeck , Hootsuite or another scheduling tool to automatically publish links to your blog post on multiple social media profiles at the same time.

16.Include Sharing Links on Your Blog  Post

Make it as easy as possible for people to share your blog posts on their Twitter profiles,Facebook profiles, Linked In profiles and so on by including share buttons.

For example the Retweet Button from Tweetmeme, and Sociable WordPress plugin provide easy ways.

17.Commenting

Commenting is a simple tool to increase your blog’s traffic.

First respond to comments left on your blog to show your readers you care and value their opinions. It will increase reader loyalty.

18. Keep up with Industry Trends

Maintaining a finger on the pulse of trending topics and knowing what’s happening and relevant to your target market should always be important.

19.Become a contributor on a Well-known website.

If you can become a guest contributor on an authority site like  Huffington Post or  Forbes you not only drive targeted traffic to your site but establish yourself as an expert in the field.

20.Mention influencers in your tweets.

When you quote or mention someone in a blog post be sure to mention them in your tweet when you promote your post.

21.Promote your blog to Your email list

It doesn’t have to be the focus of all your emails but including a link back to your blog post can increase traffic,leads and sales.

22.Include links to other relevant post on your blog

Guys when you write a post always be sure to mention other post your readers may find helpful. This is great for SEO as well as for increasing time on site,conversion rates and referral traffic.

23. Syndicate Your Blog’s Content with an RSS Feed.

Setting up an RSS food button on your blog makes it easy for your loyal readers to not just read your blog but also know when you publish new content.

24.Join Forums or Online Groups

Find online forums, Google+ groups or Facebook Mastermind groups, where you can share ideas and ask question of like-minded bloggers.

25.Promote Offline

Promoting your blog shouldn’t just be while online. Add your blog’s URL to your email signature and business cards.  It’s important to get your name and your blog’s URL noticed offline.

26. Submit Your Post to Social Bookmarking Sites

Taking the time to submit your best post to social bookmarking sites such as Digg, Stumble Upon, Reddit and more can be a simple way to quickly boost traffic to your blog.

27.Tag Your Post

It takes a few extra seconds to add tags to each of your blog post but it’s worth the time in terms of the additional traffic tags all drive to your blog.

28.Be Active on Your Social Media Profiles

Don’t just publish links to your blog post on your Facebook, Twitter and Linked In and other social media profiles.

You need to interact with others,retweet and share their content. You have to be active and visible.

29.Update and Optimize your existing post

Look through your old post to make sure they have unique and relevant title tags, URLS and meta descriptions.

30.Connect with bloggers who are already sending you traffic

If  someone has already linked to your site they obviously like what you have to say. Contact them to see if there are other ways they could help promote your content (and vice versa).

31.Add text to your blog post images.

Include your post title and URL in your blog post images for maximum effect when pinned or shared.

32.Answer Questions

Visit sites like  Yahoo Answers or  Quora and answer questions relevant to your niche.

33.Start a Forum on your website.

You can build your own community,an active forum also is great for decreasing your site’s bounce rate.

Trade banner ads with a website in your niche.

36.Interview Influencers in your niche

They will be very likely to promote the interview to their audience.

37.Repurpose Content for Multiple Social Media

After you publish a post think about how you can repurpose the content to extend it’s reach and it’s life.

Maybe combine 3 to 4 post into an e-book or use a post as a promotional tool for your entire blog.

38.Be honest

Blogs that are written in your own style and truly show who the writer is are usually the most popular. Represent yourself and your content honestly.

39.Provide Attribution

If you found information on another blog or website that you want to discuss on your blog make sure you provide a link back to the original source.

43.Get on YouTube

YouTube drives the most engaged traffic out of all social media sites with an average of 2.99 pages per visit.

44.Add your blog to  Alltop

It’s a website for all kinds of web content. Submitting your blog increases your chances of getting found by people looking for content in your niche.

45. Contact Influential bloggers

When you write a ground breaking or newsworthy  post notify influencers in your field. They might surprise you and link back.

46.Mix things Up

Mix up tactics when it comes to posting whether the content is a link, image or text. Try mixing things up with infographics,quotes from your latest post or answers to questions.

47. Be Human

Humanize your brand. Realize that your brand is everything about you and what you stand for.

48.Write a Response post

Respond to a controversial post in your niche and then let the original poster know about it. They probably won’t be able to resist responding to it on their blog.

49.Meet other top bloggers at Kingged

Kingged is a social networking site where you learn a lot about internet marketing and meet other top bloggers  in your niche and share your content. No one judges you there and  there is lots of support .

50.Share your post on Triberr

Meet other bloggers and share other’s content from this really great community.

51.Answer a Help a Reporter Out query

It only takes a few minutes and it can really get you some great PR and great backlinks and super media contacts.

    This is a nice reference post. I saw quite of few tips here that I’m currently not doing like sharing my posts on bookmarking sites.

    I actually like to add two sites i’m using now that’s helping my blog with traffic
    1. sniply
    2. startafire

    I started using these sites for about a month now and my incoming traffic have tripled since. So this this goes with #4 since I’ve been putting most of my energy on this as far as promoting.

    Number 13 is increasingly valuable, and it’s something I adapted into my own blog several years ago (meaning, people can come and re-publish their content).

    Another great way to increase site visibility and traffic is to compose other posts similar to your most popular ones. For example, if there are a few articles on your blog that perform far better than others, simply publish other versions of said topic.

    An example of this could be:
    – How to Bring Traffic from Linkedin Groups
    – How to Bring Traffic from LinkedIn Pulse
    – How to Bring Traffic from LinkedIn Ads

    Use up every possible idea (while interlinking between them) and your website should definitely soar in no time.

    I am using business cards for “analog” promotion of my business. These also have a QR code printed on back for quick access to my site from a smartphone.

  14. This is all great advice but some of it is conflicting with some of the other advice that I’ve read. Like for example the advice about posting. Everyone says I should be posting regularly which is fine but not everyone seems to agree on how often. Some people tell me that posting too often can overwhelm your readers which can lead to less comments and shorter page time and thus less and sales and stuff like that.

    That’s only one example. So it makes it confusing for me to know exactly what I should be doing when I get conflicting advice all from people with successful websites.
